I recently discovered that my Low Handicap Index wasn’t changing as it should and because of that I was being subjected to the Soft Cap rule when I shouldn’t be.
Scottish Golf wouldn’t answer directly so I had to go through my club. They sent my email explaining the position to SG and got this reply.
That is correct that a player's low handicap index should update automatically on a rolling 12 month basis prior to the most recent score.
We have been working closely with our software developer and we expect the LHI function to be updated automatically very soon to reflect the rolling 12 month period.
This has been the reason preventing Ken's handicap index from increasing. I have now re-set his low handicap index to the correct figure.
Nothing’s been said by SG about a problem with the LHI before now so I certainly can’t believe that they’ve been working on this for almost 2 years and by a lucky coincidence the problem’s just about to be solved.
