Looks a little complicated. I'm not really that IT literate.

Is it easy to use once you understand where the info needs to go and where you find it etc?

Does anyone feel that it has made a drastic impact on there game? And is it worth the cash?

I have SS2 ad feel its pretty straight forward once you get the hang of it. I had a couple of questions and pm'd the member "SS2" who is on here and he helped me. As far as does it help my game......It wont help you hit the ball straighter but it will give a whole host of other stats that I believe if your serious about your game you can only benefit from.
Value for money......I think so.

I'd like to know more as well.

My perception (mainly from Homer!) is that you have a sheet that you mark your fairways hit, greens hit etc that you have with your card and you input the stats to your PC when you get home - am I right?

I assume there must be a bit more to it than that?

Yeah. but to say thats it is an understatement. The info you can get in very wide. I tried the free trial, which if you havent yet you should as you can see whats invloved, then after the free trail I upgraded to full access.

During the round all you record is strokes, fairways hit, if missed left or right, GIR, if missed short, long, left ,right, sand saves, putts, penaltys, you vcan also record driving distance. You can print off the scorecard size sheet form the site. I can input into my pc my round in less than a minute so its not a big deal once youve done it a few times.

Hope that helps. Again pm SS2 I found him more than happy to help me.

Flan. It's a doddle. Even an IT illiterate old f*rt like me can do it.

You can print off sheets to mark up during the round if you wish but all I do is put the details on my scorecard (separate one if it's a comp!) and enter them on the computer when I get home. All you need to do per hole is a tick if you hit the fairway or an L or R if missed, a tick if GIR or L, R or X if there was no chance, and a 0, 1, 2 (or 3 ) for number putts. Sand saves and penalties can also be marked.

The stats can highlight which departments of your game need working on and this obviously can help your game overall.

Give the free trial a go - it's the best stats system I've seen.

I've been using it for a year and a bit now. In essence it's very easy to use on the golf course, takes no time at all. But you have to be brutally honest when marking the card. You're only cheating yourself otherwise. For me two inches off the fairway to the right is a missed fairway, and not just the big slices and hooks.

The thing I do like about it is that the standard reports are very useful, but if you have the inclination to, it has all the reports tucked away in the software. Because there's so much it can be a little tricky rememberng where you found a particular report. Though once you've used it a few times, it becomes second nature.

I might be sad, but I have been known to occasionally look back at specific high points in past games whilst the Mrs is watching the soaps.

I'm no 'IT' bod, but Andy from SS2 has always been remarkably helpful when I was starting out.

The thing to remember is not to take any one statistic in isolation. eg. your GIR might improve, but your putting stats might get worse due to being further from the pin as you approached with a longer shot rather than a up and down from being just off the green and missing GIR. I hope that makes sense.

Good product though, and it's tracked my h'cap against the club h'cap brilliantly.

I did have Intelligolf, but SS2 is just so simple to use on the course in comparison, and gives you so much info from so little effort.

You won't regret it.

I'm on the look-out for birthday presie for Mr B. who is quite keen on stats (and knows one end of a spreadsheet from another)- in fact he could probably write the programme himself if he didn't spend so much time on the course.
Website price is £40 - any deals going?

AliB. It's a great bit of software and I'm sure Mr B will love you even more for getting it for his b/day. There should be a discount available via your pro or, failing that, pm Andy (SS2) and flutter your eyelashes at him for a promo code.

I'm sure Andy will help you out as a feloow forummer and as it is a present. For any forum members still thinking about recording their stats let me say I have tried mygolfscorer and golfscorerecorder which come as CD's o download. Neither come anywhere near SS2 in terms of accessibility, quickness and sheer depth of information.

As other members have rightly pointed out it is a doddle to record the pre-requisite information during the round. The shhet can be printed at home and is the same size as a scorecar. Just tick for a fariway or green hit or mark with a corss if missed and circle or shade the direction arrow that relates (short of the green, long left or right). If you hit your ball into trouble and couldn't reach the green in regulation (chipping out etc) just record an X. If you go in a bunker you can record if you get up and down. It lets you record the number of putts (putts from off the green don't count) and you record any penalty shots per hole and even your driving distance.

It literally takes thirty seconds per hole and I do mine as I'm marking my partners card. Back at home you literally copy the information by clicking the corresponding box on screen. Once you have completed your card you can choose to recalculate the handicap (if a qualifying round) or leave it as is if it is just a roll up or friendly game.

It also allows you to record your practice sessions so you have a history of what you have been working on. It also has a section where you can record lesson information and any drills so you can build up a library and so when things go awry you can look back and see what you did with the pro. It also allows you to print your stats off (you can define date ranges) to give to your pro. For me this has probably been one of the most useful tools as he can see where my game has been peaking and trighing and we have been able to draw up a timetable of lessons to work on the weaknesses.

It is a one off charge but once you have paid that is it. It has a ton of information and in my opinion is the best out there. Download the one month trial and see for yourself. It definitely gets the Homer Simpson thumbs up

God do I miss it though. While I'm quite happy now having a nice warm coffee after a round at this time of year, a diet coke after a summer rouund doesn't really cut it when your partners are on the Magners and lager etc.

In theory I could start to have an ODD alcoholic drink after next June and I did have a one on Christmas Day and one on New Years Day without any detrimental effect.

I can see me dreaming of a cold tall frosty pint in my sleep tonight now!
