Say what?

It always struck me as odd that mens golf has two sets of tees, yellows and whites, but womens has only the one, reds. Is this another case of women being second class citizens in golf?

When women play at county level for example would they still play off red tees or are there special tees set up for them?

County meetings are generally played off standard red tees.

The only thing I've played in that used other tees was the Scottish Ladies where they always set up the course to be over 6000 yards which usually works out at a mix of available tee positions. Some holes from the furthest back possible, others further forward.

EDIT: It might be different for the inter-county team matches but I'm not at that level.

On most local courses the women have two tee boxes to choose (normally red and a.n other colour) a.n other is normally refereed to as the Ladies Comp tees & may double up as the mens yellow

Can't see why not. I know some of my friends play off the men's tees especially if playing with chaps

Kent Ladies/Girls champion is a member at ours, and she only ever plays of the whites, we also have a lady member who plays with her husband/boyfriend both going off the yellows (and she kicks his backside week in week out)
