Having played all year since the snow departed in January I had my best scoring and general play round of the year today, on a fairly bleak and very damp December morning.

Today was the Christmas comp for our winter sweep and 9 of us were brave enough to go out.
Playing off 17 I get 3/4 handicap and 13 shots. I was level par to the turn with two birdies and two bogies. I birdied ten and struggled a little to the finish after that. Still I managed a total of 39 points stable ford and won the competition. It was winter tees and big greens and very wet, still drying out !!

My work with my new v easy has helped my chipping greatly and would advise anyone to try any wet weather gloves. I used a Mizuno pair today for first time ever and they were simply amazing.

Hope I don't wait as long next year for my best round.

very good knock off 3/4 handicaps, well done

Good news how was the course holding up in all this rain?

It was holding up not too badly, fairly sandy base for most of the course, 7 and 13 were a little soft otherwise fairways were reasonably firm. There are a couple of flooded areas in the rough !! A case in point being when I played 12 yesterday and I drove in to the right hand rough, not too far in but no ball to be seen but plenty of water and very soft mud.

Thanks FT. :)

Nice shooting - will give you a real confidence boost going into next years comps.

Great to finish with a win!

To be fair to Alan his 17.4 handicap at Bogside could easily be as low as 13 elsewhere. Bogside is a tough tough cookie, miss the fairway and generally your goosed!
