Saturday - Mr Blue Sky

Beautiful here today.....went up to the hills and hit 200 at the range. Tomorrow is 4 degress c. though!, shame about that, have a medal at 8.42.

Weathers been stunning here in Bristol today. Managed to get round 18 holes in short sleeves.

The weather is set pretty fair for tomorrow too, can't wait.

DHM.

Played a reaasonable nine today. not too shabby not spectacular. went to the range and pushed 100 balls 10yrds right.... Best be on form for tomorrows swindle.

15 degrees this lunchtime in Ascot. Played this morning and the course was in great knick unlike my golf. Went to the range this afternoon (shirt sleeves as it was way too hot for a jumper) and managed to tweak a few things. Moved the ball a matter of centimetres forward in my stance and now hitting it higher further and straighter. Amazing how these little defects creep in unnoticed.

I had exactly that. I noticed if i put the ball an inch further i hit it higher and further.. strange that.

Nice and mild here in the N.E Hopefully it'll stay that way for a while, nothing annoys me more than hearing, sorry, the course is closed, at times like these i wish my village had gas!

I played a slow 18 today, the club champion and his crew were playing behind us, from what i saw i out played them all! we were behind a series of four balls, all greens open so a nice challenge. had a good, consistant round of -1 , with a few highlights thrown in, a daft double, 3 birdies, a nice 10 footer on the last for birdie keeping the confidence high!

12, but obviously hoping that will come down rapidly next year. Im happy at the moment that, after all the frustrations of changing my swing, 1000s of balls hit and devoting nearly every spare minute to golf im finally getting some rewards.

What on earth are you trying to tell us????????

I think that after hitting say 15 balls 10 yds right (or left in my case) I might re-adjust so that the next 85 were on target. It takes a special talent to consistently hit 100 balls 10 yds right of target. Still... whatever floats your boat.

At what stage did you put the ball "an inch further" and did it strangely fly higher and further to the same 10 yds right????

Come on MVP, get a grip (again) on your postings.

Sits back and waits for the inevitable vituperation whilst watching the postings creep, nay race, to the 900. A thousand may be on the cards by the end of the month.

Yh it certainly does J_F .

My ambition is to become pro one day, a long way to go yet though, i realise that when you get to a certain level, golf is played between your ears.

Managed to play 18 with Boabski and oor other pal Kenny. It was blowing a hooly up in Sshotts when we started but the wind had gone on the back nine. 2 birdies and a wheen of pars but also a 9 at the hardest hole on the course. I went for the glory shot when I should have played safe.

I am having problems taking practice games seriously and find I am not always trying/concentrating which is a frustration. When we played against the GM lads I was determined not to get beat and I was ..... I hate using these americanizations ... in the zone. Perhaps I will rediscover my killer instinct at the Blair on the 22nd.

Hi DHM
where in Bristol do you play?
Re weather here yesterday I started off in usual two sweaters - if only I'd had the shirt!

Yep, nice course, haven't played it though Mr. B. has and was impressed. Hoping to give it a go some time.
We are members for our sins of Woodlands at Bradley Stoke - mainly pay and play and always 'under construction' but it's improving and has suited us up to now. Of the local courses I like Saltford and have played Thornbury, Kendleshire, Stockwood, etc etc.
Enjoy the weather while it lasts!

Went out today, course was still damp and started par birdie birdie birdie par, thought 'here we go again, another round started well but finished badly', had a bogey and double bogey at the following two holes (double bogey on a 170 yd par 3, the horror of it all!) then had a rake of pars interupted by a solitary bogey on the 10th then pars again until the 16th, birdied then finished par par for a round of level par 71 (net 62 on normal handicap or 64 on winter handicap) Won the gross and was quite happy with my round even though the double bogey from a bad teeshot bothered me.
The mizuno driver performed well yet again and only missed 3 fairways out of 14. The more I use this club the more I like it and to be honest I loved it the moment it arrived from mikeh!

Well done, Brendy. Glad you kept it going. That's the same driver JezzE hit 100% of fairways with at the Jubilee. Must be a nice piece of kit...although I dare say the guy on the end of it probably makes a difference!

The driver definately inspires confidence though, two of thedrives that missed their fairways were my fault as I didnt swing at them with my usual swing, I just didnt get over the ball to get it to draw back from the right edge.
Although on the yellow tees (stableford tees during the year) we are still playing proper greens etc. I am happy that if I can keep on hitting the ball as I was today, barring the odd wobble, the handicap should start coming back down again, the longer tees will be a little more daunting of the back sticks but the better weather means a little run on the bal where today the bal was stopping where it landed, driver included.
