I was wondering if any of you were thinking the same as me?
We've had/having a rubbish winter so far with the ice, snow, fog, frost and now rain so I reckon we are due a brilliant summer.
So, rather than going abroad this summer, I'm going to stay here and take my warm break next winter.
Thinking of flying out on the 27th Dec for 2 weeks.
I know it's not like the rich folk who disappear for 4 months but at least it will break up the cold wet winters we're possibly going to get from now on.

Has anyone got something similar planned or have done something like this in the passed and if so, where did you go?

I've got it planned for when I retire Bob. Not gonna be able to stay here when its freezing cold. I'm off to warmer climates for probably 3/4 months and coming back about march/april

Long way off though :(

Where you gonna head to Bob? Wouldn't even entertain the usual spots that usually get decent winter weather as the last 2 have been horrific in these spots,I was in the Algarve turn of the year and it was rank,a bloke I spoke to had 2 decent days in 6 weeks holiday and I see now they are getting battered again with dreadful storms.....head for Oz!

For my 10th wedding anniversary I did 3 weeks over xmas in NZ. Can't beat it. Loved it so much, we went back the next year. Still want to go back. Didn't play though.

For golf, Cape Town. No substitutes. 3 hour time difference, great courses, great climate, great food, no language barrier (well, almost).

Yank land sounds about the best bet to me Bob, the weather is a certainty (well as nailed on as you will get) and they aint short of courses, fairly civilised, and not too far away. Yep, sounds ideal too me.
