I have not heard or seen the answer to this question but......

If Lee W. is unfit and can not play, Does Monty pick who he likes or as Lee qualified by right, does he HAVE to include the next player in the list Lee W qualified from??

And if so who would that be...I dont think it would be Paul C would it.

?????

brainstrust please

If LW is unfit then the replacement is from the list and not a wildcard. Pretty sure it's Simon Dyson.

I agree with bobmac - Westwood will play; however with the amount of tournament golf he's missed, he'll be undercooked.

Its Justin Rose who will play

Westwood qualified through the world ranking list. The next man in the list who did not qualify or be picked is Rose.

? :D ?

Sorry but you are wrong. Monty himself said that the next man up would be Casey for Westwood. Nothing to do with ranking or anything else but he's allowed to choose the replacement and that's who he'll go for. Personally I think Rose is the better pick but that's another story. Monty did seem bullish about Westwood being fit. I even think he has enough talent to just play him in the fourballs (or foursomes) and leave him out for the other round Friday and Saturday so he only plays three rounds max.

I think the rest will also do him some good as he's been close in the majors again and it must take its toll physically and mentally

Were both right/wrong in a way Homer. :D

The place does go to the next man in the points list as i said but the next man in the list is not Rose as i stated who is ninth in the points list and the first man who is not in the team. The automatic place goes to Edoardo Molinari (5th in the list) who was one of the Captains picks, therefore this frees a pick for Monty. don't think he has decided yet though

according to sky sports ross mcgowan the next person who qualifies would be simon dyson as he is the next in line on the european points list. it doesn't go to a captains pick apparently but the next automatic qualifier.

incidently im glad to see that casey is rubbing montys nose in it by finishing top 10 then runner up in his last two tournaments respectivly, where was harrington? wouldnt it be nice if he won the tour championship and moved up to about 5 in the rankings the week before a tournament he was left out of by choice. i happened to notice that corey pavin didnt exercise the same kind of sentimentality when it came to his captains picks, he simply picked the highest ranked and best form players.

That seems a bit odd as Lee Westwood did not qualify via the European points list. He qualified via the worlds points list. That would make 3/6 split from the world/europen list and not 4/5 as laid out in the qualifying format

That'll be why he picked Tiger then is it? :D

Anyway, I'm happy for you getting so much joy from a guy who couldn't be bothered trying to qualify for the team as of rights, suddenly running into form.
