Ryder Cup 2018

Pretty disappointed if I'm honest.

I have no idea why, I just don't think "top quality golf" when I hear "France"

Plus that douchebag that lives next door to Ernie Els lives there.

Are they doing it to raise golf's profile in France to try and attract more players??

I thought that was Portugal's objective.

I always thought the Ryder Cup went to country's that had given something to the European Tour - is that not the case??

It'll be a good venue, reasonable course (quite a few of the pro's wanted it to go there), but I don't know if the frogs will turn up to watch it.

Good decision, course always looks great and that finishing hole is made for Ryder Cups.

Should be a good while before the cup returns to The UK with Spain,Germany,Portugal and Sweden all probably gonna get a shot.

I think it is a good decision. The course was designed to host big events and has some excellent closing holes which will produce some tremendous matchplay.

Spain would have been the easy and sentimental choice in light of Seve's tragic death but France offers somewhere that the game can be grown with the bid committing to building 100 golf courses in urban communities.

Add in plenty of accommodation in Paris and good transport links means a good bid and a worthy winner.

I'm sure they said that part of France's bid was their commitment to build 100 new golf courses in France.

Seems like a tentative foray into promoting the game further whilst maintaining the crowds and income.

Great transport links from central Paris as it's only a 20 min or so journey meaning UK travellers are catered for. Also the corporate allocation will probably be sold out by Friday morning!

Mmmmmm 2 miles from Channel Tunnel - could be worth a trip!

Chris

I'm already thinking about going to Paris for the week, spending 3 or 4 nights in a cheap hotel (I know of some good'uns from my travelling days) and going for the whole week.

7 years should be enough time to save up the money to afford it all! :D
