Wow. Played 36 on a flat calm day on Friday at RND. The pro told us as we went out that it is an acquired taste, and it is a little different, but I loved it. Without the wind it was probably playing easier than usual, but upturned saucer greens (very firm and consistent, tough to hold), cunning bunkers and run off areas and lots of sea reeds to lose the ball in made it a stiff enough challenge. It's certainly a course that encourages driver off the tee (except for the 10th), and I duly obliged with my best driving for sometime. With all 4 of us playing well, I managed 39 points in the morning and 36 in the afternoon for a really enjoyable day out. Clubhouse was welcoming and huge amounts of memorabilia in there made interesting browsing.

Not a bad day out to get my 100th course! :) :D

Fantastic course,i played it in april and i thought it was a great track.Very friendly people there too! My first taste of links n i loved it,will definatley be returning.

Never played there but I was on holiday down there one year and fished the beach nearby and looked out over the course. It looked like a moonscape!
Didn't have my clubs with me at the time but would have loved to have played it.

delighted to hear you enjoyed RND - its a unique place isn't it. I played in the silver medal (cancelled in august meeting after 2 hours play as wind was gusting to 75 mph and balls blwoing off the greens) two weeks ago and thought the course was in great nick.
Its always worth the 3 and a bit hours drive each way for me!
