Roy keane to Celtic

Completely different and you know it. Keanes actions left Ireland a man short, Smith was replaced with no adverse effects. Nice try though. :)

Anyway, can we keep this one on topic without the usual suspects lining up to have a pop at another club, it's players or managers please?

Well swerved

Sorry what did Walter Smith do ?

I know Keane walked out of the WC in 2002 and they couldn't replace him

Resigned as Scotland manager to take the reigns at Rangers whilst we were in the middle of a qualifying campaign and had a very good start to it, we faes to qualify. Not quite in the Keane mould but he walked out non the less.

So he changed jobs and Scotland were able to employ another manager ?

Sorry but can't see what Keane did to Ireland as a valid comparison - Keane left his country with no other options just before the biggest tournament in the world was about to start and Ireland could do nothing.

I'm guilty of responding in kind on other threads, yes, I won't deny that. But any topics going off subject were taken that way by others. Felt I showed a rival club a bit of respect by saying they are big enough to be targeting elite managers as well. So, no, not hypocritical imo.

Anyway, I've made my point and kept on topic as well, so I'll bow out of this one having done so. :)

A huge step up for him.

Thank Christ Keane isn't the chosen one.

We have an opportunity to move away from all the "Oirish" pish and he's a "Celtic Man" and appoint a man who is not a cliche a bit like a Wim Jansen or a Dr Jo type and it's time to do it.

Step up ?

really - think its a step down going from a team in the prem which is battling and having tough games each week and bringing through a lot of good youngsters - to a stroll in the park week in week out. Depends if he prefers the tough challenge in the prem or the nice easy title in the EPL. Certainly not a huge step up

Club size and expectancy it's a huge jump, huge.

It would be like dropping down to the Championship prob League one in terms of quality and competition - there is none for Celtic. Its could be the worlds largest club - still a drop down if its to a league where the title is already sown up before the season starts. The expectancy is to win the title - job done.
