Radio silence from him since his poor performance at The Open.

What do we think he's doing?

1. Still licking his wounds somewhere quiet

2. On an exotic holiday with Wozziyacky

3. Taking Faldo's advice and just practising 9-5

I hope it's number 3. There will be lots of pressure on him for the USPGA especially from his paymasters at Nike.

He'll probably be filming the next cringeworthy advert in the Santander 123 series. Not sure who's winning the 'most wooden' award though, Rory for these or Darren Clarke for the YourgolfTravel adverts.

Hopefully though, he'll have been practising instead, likewise Darren.

He is probably playing tennis with Caroline.....

Hasnt she dropped in her rankings too???

It is (un)interesting how sports people get together at the top of their game and then fizzle away for a while. The only successful one that I can think of is Stefi Graf & Agassi - but they got together closer to their retirement days..

The lad bugs me to death, has all the talent in the world, yet doesn't make the most of it, I thought at 1 point he would win a load of majors(more than 2), but his attitude seems to have disappeared and now am not sure. He can't grind out results when things aren't going his way, and his attutde needs to improve drastically. I hope he learns to do this as this it's what's needed to become a great champion.

Golf is a career we would all love, he has it yet I don't feel he makes the most of it

I'd probably be less interested in the sport I made a career of when a sponsorship deal of £10million is sitting in my bank account. I'd call that making the most of it.

Did u see his interview on sky sports after his nightmare at the open? It sounded like he didn't care with an attitude that well I've made my cash, I don't care. If he's only in the sport for cash and not titles then that baffles me

Hes probably mixing some of one with some of two.:D

He's got haunted eyes.

Needs to clear the clutter and get back to hitting golf balls and stop blaming the swing and the new clubs. He has the talent and needs to regain his belief.

The mind is a wonderful and sometimes frustrating thing!

Oh I think there will be, but of course, not directly. For that amount of money the quiet discontent at board level will have already started. You think Nike are happy to be associated with a major disappointment (no pun intended)?

He needs to start being in the running on the 4th day, any 4th day. Once he does 4 consecutive days of solid golf that everyone knows he's capable of, we may just see him move on a gear from there, again.

In a round about way though his 'slump' has got so many people talking about Nike clubs! Granted some of it is negative BUT I would say more people are saying Nike clubs are good/not to blame etc. I have spoken to non golfers/new players who have been asking about Nike clubs as they knew about them because they heard folk blaming McIlroys woes on them but then heard a certain T Woods uses them too! Any publicity is good publicity isn't it?
