Rors taken to court by Oakley.

Read the link, he had nothing to do with it really, its his agent that seems to be doing the bargaining.

I did and of course it is going on behind the scenes but at the end of the day he still has to put pen to paper. I just feel Chandler would have handled any move to Nike better and wonder just how much it's about the lure of the mighty $ for McIlroy. Does he really need the cash and will the gear really make a difference

He would have been sponsored by Dunlop , Chandler wants to be the star always in the limelight ,you never see Conor Ridge in the limelight do you?.

Fair play to the kid as thats the way life is just now as the lure of the dollar bill is strong ,why do you think so many Europeans ply there trade in the US just now.

If it is Nike that Rory goes too Nike will just pay Oakley off. Nike will happily make 20 times that figure off of Rory through the years. Shrewd bit of business by the tick.

I dont think of McIlroy as a sunglasses wearer. Oakley can spend what they save on mcilroy kitting out other well known sunglass wearers on the course. I'd rather have 40 well known pro's across many tournaments sporting my goods as opposed to 1 who doesn't wear them much. But maybe thats why I dont run Oakley ;)

I'd of thought Oakley would be chasing the likes of Ricky Fowler. For me he's the obvious choice for a company like Oakley.Rory may be the better golfer, but Ricky has an image more in line with Oakleys.

I have seen many interviews with Chandler in all the golf mags and he comes across an easy going down to earth stand up guy. He see's his company as one big family and looks after his players as such. He built his company from scratch and close to the start of it, made the deal with Dunlop for Westwood and Clarke. Now he has players across all brands so im sure he could have done equally as good a job as Conor Ridge. Crikey, with Rory on your books, any of us could have struck a deal for him to earn more than he got from Titleist.

Your right , he gets in the limelight every now and then, but I don't think its through choice. A couple of seasons ago his players had won the first 3 majors so the media were all over him.

I think the management team have handled it as well as they can, they have not broken any laws from what I can see, they have not came out and informed anyone that rory has moved to nike, and left the other behind.

As an aside, I think it could be a cracking move, and not money motivated, Rory obviously does not need the money, but consider this, 5 or 6 sponsors = 5/6 times the amount of corporate events and sponsors looking his time, 1 major sponsor = less corporate events, more time to practice and some time away if he needs.
