Big up for Roger Chapman winning The US Seniors Open this he's second Seniors major win of the year, quite an achievement when you look at the quality of the seniors fields nowdays.
Well done Roger. Remember him as a journeyman on the European Tour. Saw a bit of it and he looked really solid. There was a graphic which I think said only Nicklaus, Player and Hale Irwin had won the Seniors PGA and US Open in the same year. Nice company! As an over 50 myself I'd be interested in an article in the mag about Roger and maybe some of the other British pros currently playing the Champions Tour.
Langer hasn't changed much. Only saw a few shots of him but swing still looks good. Looks like he was still wearing the cargo trousers. Good job the dress code police weren't around! Actually I think they look awful.
I also remember watching him on the European Tour. Reall classy golf swing but for whatever reason didn't turn solid performances into wins.
Just goes to show you're never too old to turn yourself into a champion. Carl Mason was simialr... journeyman on the main tour, but almost unbeatable on the seniors.
I remember when I was caddying on the European Seniors a few years back and Roger was there an official,a really nice guy and very popular with the players.I wondered at the time why the guy wasnt still playing,he obviously made the right choice to come back to competitive golf.It would be great to see him win the Seniors Open and get the major treble.
