The USFL Tampa Bay Bandits in the 1980s were named for him and he was always on the sideline at games. He even had an appearance in the Adam Sandler remake of the film.

Apart from Sandler being about 5-10 and too small for a QB, Bill "Steroid user" Romanowski being involved, Michael "Drugs party at my house" Irvin being involved and them stealing that last play right out of the Tampa Bay Bucs' 1992 playbook …. ;-)
