Dont you have to declare disputes with neighbours now?
Since you say youre moving, I would make the requested alterations so that YOUR move can go sweetly. Creating a fight now with your neighbour could well cost you a lot more than ill feeling.

Yes that could be easily done, but it tends to be a bit of a wind tunnel at times.

Why would a floor fitting be more prone to the wind than a top/side fitting? I assume the gate is not flexible.

No. The spring keeps it square to your wall.

I've ordered a 36 inch cane bolt drop from Amazon, arriving Sunday, I just need to drill a hole in the slab

The corner of the slab when drilling, it only 3 inches from the edge.

Not sure what happens in Scotland but in England one of the questions on the papers is now "are you or have you been in any dispute with any neighbour" if it is the same there the buyers have to be told about it anyway.

The trick with any drilling is start with a small drill and slowly change up the sizes until you get to the size you need . Your biggest worry is what is under the slab if you intend to go beyond it's depth.

Ps to avoid drilling you could simply use a two way spring Ie a spring on either side of the gate (assuming it opens both ways) that always returns it to the 90deg closed position.

A proper Masonry bit shouldn't cause any problems.

Update, I met with my neighbour today and he will fix a 20m x 100 piece treated timber on his wall, with a hole for my slip bolt.
Problem solved, saved me drilling the slab and £38 for a long slip bolt , happy days.
