Today we removed the white tees for the winter..happens every year
Having spoken to the head greenkeeper earlier in the week I knew that the whites were coming in today but it hadn't been announced
When we signed in for a card this morning the whites were still available to select...we didn't as we knew the above.
The whites were still on the tee boxes on our 1st (10th) and the next 4 holes as the greenkeepers hadn't got that far.
My question is....what would happen if we had selected the whites - not knowing about them coming in - played 5 holes off the whites and then finding the whites had been taken in?
I suspect the card would have to be deleted...?

Add penalty points to the holes from wrong tee to reduce stableford score to zero points.
Probably simply to record NRs for those holes.
Or Record NRs for the first 5 holes (unless white tees are within 2 club lengths of the yellow tees) and ask sec to change tee choice to yellow for the card (assuming you played off yellows the rest of the way round)

I would suggest deleting the card as the course you had pre registered to play was not acceptable for handicapping. It wasn’t your fault so a perfectly justified deletion of a score intent.
All tees should have permanent markers as well as the movable ones so just play off those for that one round.

I am not sure the golf course would approve of players electing their own teeing ground. For care of the course the greenstaff were in the process of removing them, to go against this would not be right just because of an admin error i.e. forgetting to turn the white tees off in the WHS portal.

Yes, since the white tees were in effect closed, any intent to submit a GP score from them should be deleted.
Even if your handicap committee was aware of the tees being closed (they should be), it would still be best to contact them to let them know what happened. They should also be switching off the tees in the software.
