Remote control help please

I'd like to be able to control my BT TV box in the lounge from other rooms in the house.
I'm currently using a Marmitek Powermid set up which is temperamental at the best of times so I'd like to know if there are any newer and better systems out there.
Ideally I would like to be able to control the bt box from 3 different rooms so would need to be able to buy additional receiver units.
Can anyone help please?

My son once downloaded an app to control the Sky box. I was watching Everton and every few minutes it kept turning over to one of the religious channels. It took 10 minutes and some giggling from upstairs before I realised what was going on . Beware what you wish for Bob.

Take a look at Harmony, I have the hub, as it uses wifi you can use the remote from anywhere or use the app.
