Relief from Path

Simple question but not sure of the correct answer.

You are on a footpath on the course and you choose to take relief, if the nearest point is in a bush or you have no swing because of a tree is that where you have to drop?

Or do you drop to the nearest point where you get relief with a swing?

As above, it's nearest point not nicest ☺
So on that basis, always work out where the drop will be before picking the ball up and saying you're taking relief. Sometimes better to hit off the path.

Paths can also be deemed part of the course and you are not entitled to a drop. This will be covered under local rules.
