Swanny, let me know how much Craig does them for as I have a couple of clubs that could do with being regripped. Might have to get in touch with him for a catch up as haven't seen him for a few years.

Davey, played 9 holes with Craig last Friday and told him that I had been speaking to you, he said something about you having liked his page on Facebook, and also that you aren't a member of a GC at the moment. You should come down to Forresters fella, the owner does a great deal for under 30's called a Colt membership, it's peanuts and you get full 7 day rights.

Anyway, he's just quoted me £3 per grip for Tour Velvets and £6.50 per grip for Multi compound (any colour) + fitting charge of £15. Seems pretty reasonable to me.

Thanks Swanny. I am very tempted and keep looking at the membership. If I'm not wrong it's £400 for the year for Colts (under 30's). Not in a position to do it at the moment though and need to think about what I am going to do when the rugby season starts as to whether I'm going to play rugby or not.

Nikon, the membership is effective for one year from the date of joining so not over a certain season like most.

Davey is correct, each membership is for 1 year from the date of signing. They do it on a monthly direct debit if it makes any difference, think it works out about £30 a month or something like that. Not to be sniffed at fella, I searched around almost every golf club in the area and no one came close to Forrester Park. Myself along with Craig and a few others are really starting to get a youth clique going as well, play 9 holes every friday evening (although other members are able to join us if they wish), it's really a good time to get involved with the club. Craig is making some changes to the course and the practice facilities as well which will really improve the club in general.

I am very interested in joining swanny, I have been looking at it for a while and the price is brilliant. I may be getting a bonus at the end of this month and if so could well be joining up, as at the moment I have lost interest in playing rugby next season and really want to start playing in golf comps and get an official hcap.

Well you already know one member there in me, I can introduce you to the "gang" and you'll have your three cards handed in in no time at all. Would be good to get you on board and as I said, it really is a great time to get involved with the club. I'm planning on being a member there for a long time.

I live in South Woodham Ferrers and usually go to golf from Chelmsford (my girlfriends house). I wouldn't be able to make the Friday evenings as I don't get home from work until gone 7pm. I am trying to work out if it's financially possible at the moment.

Yes they do although don't ask me how much it is as I have no idea, my brother played 9 holes with me a couple months back and payed £12 but I'm sure the woman charged him the wrong amount.

The way I looked at it was, I was playing 2 maybe 3 rounds of golf a month, this was costing me in excess of £30 a month if I played at Rivenhall every time, more if I decided to go and play places like Channels or Benton Hall, I was playing with the same guy week in week out, didn't have a handicap so had nothing to work toward and wasn't able to play in competitions. For the monthly fee of £30 I am now getting golf whenever I wanted morning, noon or night, 7 days a week, an official handicap, entry into competitions and a chance to make some new friends.

I know exactly what you mean swanny and like I say I am very interested.

Part of me is quite glad you're not going to Thetford on Monday as think you will have completely sold Forresters to me by the end of the day, haha.

Lol, the club sells itself at that price, once you have met myself, and the other few lads who regularly get together for 9/18 holes you'll love it. Obviously you already know Craig so that will also be a big benefit. We have a Wednesday evening 9 hole role up competition (£1 in the pot), Friday evening 9 hole role up swindle (£2 in the pot) also referred to as TCI Friday or Thank Craig It's Friday....LOL and then the weekly men's competition every Sunday morning.

It does all sounds pretty good, but wouldn't be able to make it Weds or Fri nights as I don't get back from work til around 7 so wouldn't be there much before 8. I am seriously considering it though. Will have to have another round there soon to decide. Hopefully can arrange a complimentary round if I say I am looking to join.

The Wednesday and Friday ones aren't all that important, it's the Sunday one's you want to play in. Just got Sky TV in the clubhouse and looking at having a separate members area soon as well with some nice comfy sofa's and probably table service from the bar.

Putting green is moving from it's current location as it's crap and will soon be located next to the first tee. Range and chipping area is going to be improved, the stupid huge bunker to the left of the 18th green has been filled in recently and there is now a nasty run off which will take you into 2 pot hole bunkers once the grass is mowed short. Also making the 9th green larger soon as it's almost impossible to hold off the tee.

Oh and we are getting nice new scorecards very soon, designed by Craig, about time they replaced the crap ones we have, all the local rules are out of date and don't make sense.

Sounds like exciting times for Forresters swanny. I will try and get down there for a round within the next few weeks I think.
