My irons desperately need new grips, they aren't terrible but they get sticky and leave loads of black stuff over my right hand. Tried cleaning them but after a couple of rounds they started turning my hand black again.

I don't want to fork out too much dosh though, I'll be regripping my 3 wood, then irons 4-SW so 9 clubs in total. Can anyone recommend a half decent grip that won't cost the earth. If it comes with some choices of colour as well then that would be aces!

Lamkin crossline or Golf Pride tour velvet - both quite cheap but good. Lamkin crosslnes were good enough for Annika Sorenstam so good enough for us. They come in black, red or blue I believe.

Found a guy selling some Golf Pride Multi Compound blue grips on ebay for just over £40 for 13. Seems reasonable to me, my main concern if I purchase them myself is fitting them....I'm not all that good at DIY.

If you've found a guy selling Golf Pride MC's £40 for 13 then you've found one of a number of counterfeiters selling them on there. Ebay is hoaching with fake MC's, wouldn't touch them on there. If it seems too good to be true....

Cheapest MC's i've found are golfwarehouse though i've not bought from there. as for regripping i've had a few goes at it and its reasonably straightforward and you don't need a vise to get it straight.

To be honest a club pro would likely do them for you for £1 a club. Thats probably the most efficient answer. I do them myself but thats after i bought tape stripping tool, white spirit, squeezy bottle, grip tape etc.

£1 a club probably cheaper and less hassle.

It's having something to keep the club still, I don't have a vice grip, nor do I have a work bench to put a vice grip on to.

You dont really need a vice etc - just push the club head up against the wall to keep it in position and simply push the grip on. Ive done mine a few times now, only used a vice the first time then didnt bother after that as it wasnt necessary.

Try these out for grips...

i have just had my irons re gripped with golf pride new decade multicompound midsize!! I was going to do them myself but after looking on eBay the grips wasn't exactly cheap at £8 a piece. I went and asked my GC and they said we can do them for you £8 fitted so i went with that. My clubs are now perfectly fitted with new grips and im stress free!!! :)

Swanny, let me know how much Craig does them for as I have a couple of clubs that could do with being regripped. Might have to get in touch with him for a catch up as haven't seen him for a few years.

I know you want coloured grips but a word of warning. I've found the colour compounds tend to wear much quicker than say a tour velvet made of one type of rubber thorughout. My Golf Pride Patriot grips in particular wore out very quickly on the mid and short irons. Personally I'd avoid them now

Don't get them done at my club...

Our Pro charges £7.50 + fitting for a single Tour Velvet, £8 + fitting for a Lamkin Crossline and £11 + fitting for a New Decade....

Not sure how much business he gets at those prices..??

Davey, played 9 holes with Craig last Friday and told him that I had been speaking to you, he said something about you having liked his page on Facebook, and also that you aren't a member of a GC at the moment. You should come down to Forresters fella, the owner does a great deal for under 30's called a Colt membership, it's peanuts and you get full 7 day rights.

Anyway, he's just quoted me £3 per grip for Tour Velvets and £6.50 per grip for Multi compound (any colour) + fitting charge of £15. Seems pretty reasonable to me.
