Regripping help

just had my irons by the pro at the local range - free fitting and the grips were 50p cheaper than Gamola!!

however, that doesn't help you at all - no advice on fitting!

Personally I'd make a friend that enjoys all that kinda stuff, fitting grips and that, buy the supplies and give them to him to do, at least then if you're as ham-fisted as me then you can trust someone else to do it right!

Re vice and rubber vice grip, I use a bench type vice (Workmate) and put a couple of bits of old grip round the shaft. Works a treat.

Sometimes the grips are hard to push on which I guess is due not using enough white spirit.

Alex - I forked out a lot last year to get my grips done.

I have done 3 myself now using ordinary white spirit and tape that came with the grips.

In truth the most time consuming part of the whole process was getting the old grip off. If I was going to do a full set I would definetely invest in one of those stanley knives with a hook blade.

edit - I have one of these - which proved to be perfect for the job of holding the club.

Less of that, this is my position and Im hoping OP is going to take up the mantle :)

I have never used a vice nor needed one. I enjoy regripping and will happily do it for anyone. A stanley knife, bottle of white spirit a towel and grip tape and I'm good to go. It really is an easy task.

Nail varnish remover is Acetone, which is a lot more volatile than white spirit. I suspect it is drying before you actually get the grip on.

Interesting, yep, that and the tape must have been killing me. I'll get the correct supplies, practice on Fundys clubs then do mine :D

The bench itself is split in two. You can wind the two halves apart using 2 handles. There are plastic clamps you can the. Reposition to suit your needs.

I like the idea of using an old grip. Will use that for my next go at it

Thanks for all the help on this guys re gripped at the weekend for the first time really easy thanks to reading these commments

Went off the what's been recommended here lots of white spirit and the pre cut tape from gamola golf really easy and most time consuming part is taking old tape off
