Right, I need some golf trousers, my waist size is 36-40 depending on trouser cut, so if your recommendation comes up small or is generous say so. If they have a baggy leg and a lot of butt room say so. If they have some silly washing instructions ( my machine only does 40degs mixed colours!! And they should either dry fast or be okay for the dryer).
I know I have made a lot of stipulations, but its no point saying x brand is good, say why and please answer the question fully. If you think I have missed any thing add it, it obviously important.

Looking forward to your suggestions.

For winter golf, Under Armour coldgear trousers - keep the wind out, splashproof and really warm. Come up on the generous side so make you feel slightly better about your waist line lol. Otherwise the UA allseasons are also good, I have some Ping Volts for summer which are very thin and lightweight (size about right) and also some smarter Ping trousers which again are good quality and fit right for size. Had some Strombergs but sadly they come up a bit small and wont fit again until Ive shifted a few of the lbs that have been added while injured lol. Shop around though, plenty of bargains out there

Dunlop from sports direct. Cant go wrong with them if you can get the lighter matieral ones. Cheap as chips so if your machine does ruin them it wont matter that much.

IJP, good fit, wash well and wear well. Have 3 pairs myself, tartans and classic, all good trousers.

Plus one for me I have tartans and tech trousers the best I've worn comfort quality. golfbase/scottsdale have some clearance offers. too.
Sligthly more discreet are the greg norman ones in sports direct, again really comfortable and decent quality.

Or, if you want to save some cash, head to Tesco and look at their range of Troos.. I bought 2 pairs for less than £25 and they're both still going well. Easy iron, nice fit, smart looking... I have several pairs of JL, IJP etc and these look just as good IMO..

Berghaus navigators, get caught in a quick shower and they dry in no time, temp gets a bit higher than you expected and you can unzip the lower legs to make shorts.

Totally agree. UA trousers are great. I don't bother with thermals and waterproofs when wearing them. There is a shop on ebay, base layers I think they are called that does them in a good price.

I have the same problem with Fundy regarding Strombergs. Be careful the black ones with the red piping make you look like Postman Pat.

Ping, Nike, UA & IJP all great trousers which have enough room for the gents with more "muscular" thighs & behinds, they are a true fit on the waist as well (the IJP tech trousers are brilliant, water resistant, good material & the waist is adjustable http://www.golfbase.co.uk/m-71-ijp.aspx?section=-34-, although Mr Poulter does have a smug face that I don't think I'd ever tire of hitting). Addidas always seem to be smaller than I would like, Dunlop sizes are erratic (bought 3 pairs of the same model that are all different fits) and Galvin Green are way too expensive for me to even consider.

36-40 That is a big difference.

Dunlop from Sportdirect. The ones in the bright range for example price brackets that are 100% polyester. These wash well and dry very very quickly, nice and airy in the summer so you don't boil but not great for winter without long johns or similar base layer. Hang them up right to dry and they don't need and iron. They have plenty of room in the leg and backside to bend over without the dreaded rip.

Want something a little more fitted then go with the ones that have a metal button from the pro range.
These are very comfy and stretch where they need to. Be warned the finish on the metal button isn't great so there is a risk of it coming off easily because it frays the thread. Worth adding a little extra stitching to that.

Another shout for the Dunlop Pro range, stupidly cheap and fit really nicely. Bought myself another pair last week in a smaller size as my diet seems to be going ok...so far ;)
