Recommend a Driver / Fairway woods (not a survey! ;) )

Thanks for all the input. I am off to the shop today where I think I have about 3-4 drivers that I want to try (+ whatever the pro suggests might work for me). I will go with whatever feels best within my budget tbh, I am not worried about matching sets etc, rather have a club that I can rely on and that gives me some confidence when I am taking it out of the bag than a nice set of matching headcovers. As for the fairway woods, I will give the G10 a whirl, I am determined to find some middle ground between a 3 wood that can bang a straight one off the tee, and is comfortable to use off the turf!

Thanks again all!

Well after a good couple of hours trying different clubs, I finally came away with a Srixon Zr-W Driver and Srixon M-Steel 5 wood.

I had absolutely no intention of getting the Srixon woods, though the irons I bought last week were lovely I thought I would be going for the Cobra having seen some excellent feedback from users on this forum. I started off with the M Speed, but despite my swing speed being suited to it, I just didnt get on with it at all. I was all over the place! After discounting that and a Taylor Made, I was down to a Yonex and the Zr-W. The Srixon was hitting longer, and (more importantly for me) was very very consistent. The same went for the 5 wood, though the Taylor Made I tried sat behind the ball beautifully and really instilled some confidence, I was hitting the Srixon so consistently straight and at a decent trajectory.

Didnt get anywhere with 3 woods as they didnt have some that I wanted to try, but judging how these felt, I wouldnt be at all surprised if I got the Srixon and became the boards Srixon fan-boy!

Thanks again everyone for some good pointers, I tried all suggested and was glad I did. Its quite fun comparing drivers for a couple of hours. The 'giving the money over' bit stings though!
