I just spent 3/4 logged in writing a post on yesterday's round, only for the system to ask me for a log in again when I hit post.........losing my thread.......aaaaaaaaaaaargh!!!!!

There is an auto save function. When you go back to repost see if the there is a button allowing you to restore saved content. Not sure at what point it kicks in or when it is available though.

As has been said autosave is there, did you tick the "remember me" box when logging in?

It was auto saving as I was writing, but haven't been able to recover it, and it logged me out again......looks like the remember me check had been cleared at some point on this machine...... :-(

Yup that does happen, if you take to long to write the post. As I work in IT, I'll just say the same thing I say to my team, remember to save your work regularly, saves a lot of pain and hair pulling.

If you are typing a "Biggy" use notepad or ms word on your pc and save it. Browsers can crash and lose everything too so worth using a word processing prog when doing it.

Or just before you hit the 'post' button, CTRL+A then CTRL+C to copy it all. Then if you get logged out you can paste it back again.

It never happened with the old system that the forum used though. Perhaps a bug with the current system? Some parameters somewhere needing changing?

I just stay logged in all the time now unless I clear out my cookies. Saved me a lot of bother.

I can hardly remember the old forum now! Most (all of) the other forums I use all use v bulletin Which IMO is far superior.

But - watch out if you compose a posting on MSWord. It has a strange habit of merging two words randomly together when it is pasted into the forum.
