Andy Carroll would score a header like that ( he would miss loads of easier chances) but scoring one goal doesnt make him a better player. Messi's all round game is superior to ronaldo and he is more of a team player, take away free kicks and penalties and that's nearly 50% of ronaldo's goals

Messi appears more of a team player because the rest of the team are 'Messi' players, in that the whole team plays in such a way that bringing Messi into the game is their main focus, whereas in Real Madrid no one player is the central figure of their attacking intent.

You based your argument on ONE headed goal! If that's the basis of the best player in the world then it's got to be Carroll playing in allardyce's long ball team

Messi has been man marked plenty of times. All that does is take a player out of the opposing team because they are either unable to stick to him or get carded for fouling him. That's the reason why many teams don't go down that route.

Not at all controversial. I think he is a smidgen behind the other two. The way he played against RM in the cup was incredible.
As for who is the better, CR or LM? It's too close to call IMO.

It's the fear if being shouted down by all the people who think that the goal scorer is automatically the best. I love watching Messi and Ronaldo. Sublime skill in Messi and pure power from Ronni, but Iniesta's artistry with the ball is mesmerising. Maybe we are fortunate to have all 3.

And me. In the run-up to the World Cup and during the World Cup, I maintained that he was the one to watch. Goal scorers come and go but playmakers are worth their weight in gold.

Fottball isn't about building a team around one player to win all individual accolades.

Maybe Barcelona,play more to Messi, but also the other way around.

Even if Ronaldo was the better player and scored twice as many goals as Messi in his career. I would love to see Messi say, yeah, but show me your medals.
