Reader Test Panel

Guys I don't see why you have to justify being selected to test the kit, I am sure you will all do a great job for Mike and the GM mag by judging it fairly on it's performance for you, and then giving an unbiased review that is why you were picked.
I am looking forward to seeing all your ugly mugs and reading the reviews in the mag in the near future.

my thoughts exactly, never applied as did not think i would get picked and certainly have no bad thoughts to those who have been picked.

hi all again

sorry I hope my post earlier didn't seem too officious or make anyone seem like they had to justify their selection I just wanted to 'manage everyone's expectations' as they say in the PR world!

Anyway, I'll shut my beak now and get back to cooking the dinner

whats for dinner?

Toad,

Exactly !

Its good to here a crit from a "normal man in the street" rather than the carefully painted picture that the manufacturers like to put forward in the magazines. I've already picked up on one forum members feedback on a driver he was trying.

Go for it guys and give it your best.

come on guys, lets stop the petty moans about not being picked and people worrying if people or they are getting to keep items , if it continues i can invisage GM pulling the plug then no-one else will get a turn no matter who i will be

I also received a Taylor Made Burner draw driver 9.5 degree stiff shaft-first impressions bloody big head dwarfs my 410cc R5.

Due to weather conditions range use only with one 11 hole round. Hopefully weather will improve over next few weeks and i can test the club and provide a useful review for all readers of GM

This type of reader reviews and the matches to come is exactly why the magazine is the best out there. I was flicking through the latest Todays Golfer while in the little room and is it me or is the magazine nothing more than a publicity tool for TM, Nike, Callaway and Mizuno.

There are hardly any unbiased feed back and how the TM Burner hybrid can be selected above the Cobra Baffler DWS is beyond me.

Lets leave those selected to test the gear on our behalf alone and get on with the job in hand. Keeping the kit is a nice perk (not to be abused in the future guys!!!) but if you have to hand it back - hey thems the breaks and I'm sure the manufacturer will have a good reason why they need the kit back.

Head of reason now removed!!!!

I'm pleased for you, mwj, if you get to keep the burner.....especially as you have an illegal driver!

Am I happy.....hell no!.....jealous as anything, then again, a 9.5 stiff would be as much use to me as a white elephant.

Good luck with the report.

Dave

bet jon's got a Cobra tattoo though, over the heart :D.

Mike, 1000 replies, 72 a year that's GM's future assured for the next 14 years!

andy, now I am jealous - that G10 3-wood is the one I am waiting for. tried it at a demo, found it a killer off the deck. didn't like the driver though.

Viscount I bought the driver and love it, I am desperate to get the G10 3 wood and agree it is fantastic off the deck just need to wait for the wife to loosen the purse strings again.

Toad, I talked to one of our pro's about the 3-wood. He thought it could be a problem as I have TM r7 driver and 5-wood and it may not 'fit'. I'm prepared to take the gamble, though my shopping list is getting a bit full - G10 3-wood, B60 putter, new (fitted) irons, GMFUGC weekend.

(Hit the 200 yd marker on the fly at the range the other night with the 5-wood)

I have given up on buying the big name gear for the moment. The only big name clubs in the bag now are a Nike SQ 5 wood, a Tour SV wedge and a Ping Putter. Irons, hybrids and driver are all Orka and MD and I think I am going to have a punt on a Benross 3 wood (£40.00 for the V6 Trimass seems like too good a deal to miss)

The one disadvantage of Orka is that I've never seen one, let alone held one. I do, however, have an Orka fitter not too far away so a casual visit could possibly be on the cards.
Looks are not necessarily important, though that's what's doing it with the B60 (hope to try it out this weekend if the practice green isn't a sponge).
The G10 I have tried; once held never forgotten I'm afraid.

I think I gave up on the bigger companies when hybrids started costing over £100 and when some fairway woods were costing the same as I was willing to pay for a top end driver (have seen some costing nearly £200). Once it got to that stage, I just could not justify the expense so went looking for alternatives.

Felt the same way about my SQ hybrid, a couple of hits with that and I was sold irrespective of cost.

Vis I think that it will never be enough of a problem, everyone I know who has one or has tried one want it.

STOP IT!!! Madandra or I will be on the lookout for Jon's Taser.
