I've hit an 11 wood cutting the corner on 16 at Silverknowes. The guy who was walking his dog and carrying the club had bought 11, 13 and 15 Woods. Made it a much easier hole - only a 6 iron in. Hole normally played 5 iron, 3-wood!

Shame it has gone off the boil but irrespective of names etc surely all shafts have moved on in terms of flex weight etc so there will never be like for like after this time

Got to learn not to drop things firmly when it wasn't their fault!
I did that once with a 6 iron, never left my hand and snapped so easily. I'm a lot more careful with my kit now.

I have a little 7 wood that I use as my hybrid.
I've had it 15 years, it had a regular flex Dynalite Gold steel shaft in it.
I could hit long and high, long and low, fade, draw, take a bit off, add a bit on - the lot
Brilliant club.
Due to a combination af age and being dropped firmlywhistle it suffered shaft snappage!

Got it reshafted with the same Dynalite regular shaft...

And now it feels so completely different I can't do anything with it
I've been swinging quite well recently but I can't make a good contact with this 7 wood anymore.
Spent an hour at the range this morning, Driver and fairways going well, irons sweet, wedges sweet, 7 wood all over the place...the only way to get a half decent contact is to swing so slowly it feels like I'm going backwards in time and the ball flies as far as a 6 iron...

A 15 year old regular shaft is probably the equivalent of a modern senior shaft. You need something with more whip in it old timer.

Was that recently, those trees on the left are some height now. It was always a card wrecker that hole, especially if you didn't cut the corner too well and ended up in the stank between the old 2nd and 16th fairways, yeuch !
