I'm sure this subject has been done to death over the years but not for a while

I'm having my clubs re gripped now. Paid £50 for 12 grips and my mate who is a head pro re gripping them for £25

Total cost £75 bargain (grips are tour velvet golf pride)

How often do people change? I go for every 2 years

I'm thinking of buying some proper cheap grips and practicing regripping some old clubs of mine so next time I can do myself

Not a lot of cost I appreciate but I'd prefer doing one club at a time without the worry of them bit being ready

Plus could be fun

I change about once every two years. I bought 13 Champ C8 grips for £35. Liked them so much I managed to find another 10 for £24! Really good grips, sadly not made anymore.
I regrip all my clubs. First time I was nervous but it really is easy. There are plenty of videos on YouTube to show you how to do it.

I got a ton of old clubs at my dad's that are like donney etc

Tempted to bring a steel and graphite one to mine and just practice a few times..

Can get a set with cheap grips like £20

The clubs I buy have grips in varying condition, from pretty good to petrified.

I've changed quite a few sets now and it's a lot easier than I thought, there are loads of videos on how to do it on YouTube.

The hardest bit is getting the old grip and tape off, especially the Victory greens that seemed to be so common back in the day.
I buy cheap as chips grips for £15 or £20 for nine, they do the job okay.

I just bought 12 white grips for £15 delivered to replace these slightly tired grips on my Norrie Thomson irons and woods below.

If you are new to it
1st take the grips off the old clubs and message the butt, it will be .580 or .600 (generally for irons) and buy the correct bore size for the grip. Graphite shafts are normally .600 but may be thicker. Specialist wedges such as Vokey will be .58.

Note grips can be plain round or ribbed make sure you buy the ones you prefer.

Having the correct bore size makes the job easier and gives the correct grip thickness after fitting eg for me if the butt size is .58 I need to have two layers of tape and if .60 just one with a standard thickness grip.

When you see cheap grips saying standard size they normally mean .60 bore

JL golf on ebay is a good source of cheap grips and tape. Note the economy tape is probably half the thickness of premium tape.

Thank you for all that information that's so in depth and I will try and use that to help.

I did a lot of research on my clubs few weeks Ago, 0.58 is the size of all my shafts

My long term plan of doing myself will be fun

My mate the pro I picked my clubs up from this morning said he will show me how to do them aswell so that's good

One other bit of advice.

If, like me , you do them in the garden avoid doing it on a very hot day or in the sunshine. The solvent evaporates too quickly.

I use white spirit or turpentine substitute, which takes a little longer to dry and set regardless of how hot it is.
I do mine when in the garage, normally in an evening and they are always ready to use the following morning.:)

Which of the JL Golf grips have you used Jim? Thinking of trying some of there dual compound ones and wondered how they compared.
