Just for the benefit of the one person on her who doesn't know - I had a hip resurface 5 weeks ago.

The rant

I am still walking with the aid of a walking stick, despite the fact that I played 9 holes yesterday, and now for the last week + I have been back to work. I tend to nip to the local Sainsbury's in the morning to buy lunch and I find it unbelievable how many fit and able people, barge past me, make me wait to let them past, stand in gangways looking at things at a distance where i have to squeeze sideways past them, push to get at something that I am looking at etc etc. Now this has been for a week and a half as that is when I went back to work

They don't know the extent of my need for a stick but it is clear that what I find is the same as other people with far more serious problems - some people are just ignorant numpties!

Chris

Chris, I would agree 100% - I have a wife who is disabled and all the above is experienced PLUS the numpties who STEAL the disabled spaces.

If they want to take her space PLEASE, PLEASE also take her health problems!!

Chris, I'm one of the ones who didn't know what had happened, although I was aware something had!

Glad your on the mend.

Unfortunately, some folk are so up their own ***** that they don't consider anyone else but themselves!!

Their time will come!! Karma! :-)

Sorry mate, guilty as charged. Parked in disabled because I am at the moment but obviously don't have a blue badge!

Chris, I was going to say that if you looked like your avatar, I wasnt surprised :D

Some people have too much nothing to do and not enough time to do nothing with. Ignorant gits, it annoys me when you flash someone and give them room on the road yet they dont even lift a finger to acknowledge.

When I broke my arm I also couldn't believe the number of people walking into me. It wasn't like I was hard to spot. I was the ten year old child with a stookie going from the middle of his hand to his armpit and it was strapped to my chest in a sling.

Every knock was agony because I had pins in my arm that were anchored into the plaster, so each impact rattled into my freshly shattered elbow.

Ignorant ********

I went to see a Doctor yesterday. Unusual for me.

I parked outside. There was a space. There was also a disabled space. Two other people parked in it. No blue stickers on view. Right outside the doctors surgery. The one place where seriously sick people might want to go.

I have a blue badge, from when my MIL was still living with us last year. I would not dream of using it now, or when she was alive, if she was not in the car. Yet every time I visit a super market, all the disabled bays, and the mother and baby bays are full of cars belonging to the fit and healthy, and un-encumbered by kids (unless you count fat teenagers).

Don't get me started on lazy people taking children spaces at supermarkets, they do my nut in...

Chris, hope your feeling better soon, some folk are ignorant, and think that they are too busy to be courteous, maybe if they experience it themselves their opinion will change, however I doubt it will.

I always let people with sticks, wheelchairs or obvious ailments have room or let them through whether at doors (I will happily hold it open) or in aisles in the supermarket. Its how I was brought up. My kids do the same as its how I have brought them up. Unfortunately a lot of people are living in their own little world where they are so much more important than anyone else and don't really give a damn about anyone else.

Glad your on the mend Chris

dont let the B******'s grind you down ;)

Chris, have you tried "its so kind of you to let me let you barge through." Prepare to duck as they let rip with a load of foul language to cover the fact they are ar53holes.

I should have made the point originally that I am not too bothered for myself, but can see how the really disabled people are treated. Another week and I hopefully will not need a stick but there are lots out there who will always need one, and I sympathise how badly the public treat them, it's been a real eye opener!

Chris

My father-in-law is blind.

When I'm guiding him when we're out and about the number of people who bump him as he's walking beggars belief. Does the white stick not give these people a hint?

Thing is. Tom (My father-in-law) is always apologising because he can't tell if it's him that's causing it. The last time we were out it happened he apologised and I said loudly "Don't you apologise Tom. He can see where he's going!!"

I've nearly come to blows with idiots taking the disabled spaces at Supermarkets, usually some ned or fast boy in his BMW while mr and mrs disabled have to park 4 miles away!!! well it feels like 4 miles to them, trust me!

The supermarkets need to police it better, they police their wonky trolleys for a quid!

I sympathise Chrisd, at least your getting better and can empathise now

I'd love to see the supermarkets police the car parks better. I tend to make a very loud and sarcastic comment everytime I see someone get out of a mother and toddler spot with no kid ("are you going back home to pick your kid up first"). Most are totally oblivious. I've had a few face to face rows with idiots using disabled spots and it is a real bugbear of mine. Once in a while if others are watching they'll shamefully back down and move but most are so thick skinned they don't care. I try to make sure the wonky trollytakes me into the side of their car on the way back

I'd like to see some wider spaces marked with " I dont want my car doors scratched or dented by some ignoramus driving an s reg heap of sh*te"

I hope you are not talking about me Chris. I drive an S reg and I think your remark is out of order.

Chris

when the spaces are too narrow I park inbetween and take 2 spaces (theres plenty of free spaces so I'm not causing a problem) I've had to get 2 doors re-done due to idiots bashing or scraping my door.....
plus with a child in the back and no child/parent spaces (as some young ned is in the space) you NEED that room to put your child back in safely
