Rant alert !!!!!!!!!!!!!

plus with a child in the back and no child/parent spaces (as some young ned is in the space) you NEED that room to put your child back in safely

Makes me wonder how we ever managed in the old days before child/parent car park spaces were invented.

Ah yes. I remember now, we used to walk to the local shops. Now, what a good idea - except that because of those who want to drive everywhere and park in large spaces where they don't get their doors scratched, there are few local shops left. Local high street is full of fast food shops, charity shops and little else - oh, apart that is from the major supermarket "local" shops that have opened up in the high street for those who can't drive, and charge 20/30% more that the previous traders would have done.

Fortunately I am able to locally buy fresh vegetables bought in that day from the market, superb quality meat from the local butcher (OK it might be a little more expensive but you wouldn't get that quality from a supermarket) and we bake our own bread.

Most other basics and branded products are delivered so really not much need for the ccar when shopping.

Fabulous idea mate!

I live in a village, 6 miles out of town - "just popping out for a pint of milk, be back in 4 hours"

OK Chris, point taken about you country gents who live out of town.

Seriously though, I don't know exactly where you live, but didn't your village at one time have a shop that would sell the daily basics - bread, milk, etc, etc ?? Most had until the supermarkets drove them out of business.

We did until Tesco built a supermarket about 1/2 mile down the road. It lasted until the week the supermarket opened and has been converted to flats now

We do have a good village shop, I was just joking!

As I am a very old codger who remembers having to shop almost every couple of days for dinners, all I can say is, I cant thank Mr Tesco enough for internet shopping. Carrying 300 tins of cat meat to the car that I now get delivered to the door and the saving of having Mrs Chris dragging me round the supermarket for 2 hours when I arrive home from golf on a Sunday, so that I miss the footie!

Thank you Tesco - thank you!
