been at the range today, what a waste of time that was, father
and son in the next bay, ruining it for everyone by telling
his son how hit the ball, the kid who was about eleven just
did'nt want to be there, big row errupted and everyone had
their pennies worth.

go to the course but if its not crowded play 3/4 holes not 6
One drive/long iron from the tee and then lots of shots from 100 yds in, dont worry about scoring, just sharpen up your short game ;)

My thoughts exactly, just use the course as a practice ground, you dont have to rush, just use your time wisely :)

At this time of year, well, Oct-March really, I'd go for the range. During the main season I'd play a few holes on the course if possible.

Best option is a grass and bunkers practice area with a green to chip and putt around on. Range mats are ok for long game but limiting for short game, hitting 100 balls off real turf in an hour and a half is brilliant practice and fun. 6 holes is just a walk with a few shots, not golf practice.

Gimmee the course.
And as has been said, don't rush 6 holes, play 3 or 4 properly, maybe hitting 2 balls if you can.

Actually, I'd play our short course instead. 9 holes, longest is 94 yards with greens just like the main course.

I tend to go to the course and start at a par 3 but play from the ladies tee it is around a hundred yards and hit 2-3 balls and also chip around the green and putt a lot then play 3-4 holes

I had a lesson yesterday, arrived 30 minutes early for a warm up and loosen up on the range, then a lesson, then onto the 3 hole academy course as it was starting to rain. I had three holes, hitting two balls each time, then on the last hole I used the range balls that had been hit next to the third hole to chip onto the green. A very enjoyable afternoon, whilst I enjoy the range, I love the course, and seeing as I drive for an hour to get to the course I want to use it as much as possible.

I would only consider the range if I desperately wanted to work on teed up shots. Waste of time for iron play where nothing beats playing from the real green stuff.

So, course or practice ground for me :)
