A question out of interest more than anything else.
I play at a few courses near to where I live and some of them have practice facilities (range, nets) but most of them don't.
When I play the courses that don't have practice facilities, I find it can take up to 9 holes to truly get in the swing of things (no pun intended) after which point my game starts to gel. Before that, I can be absolutely hopeless, especially if I'm playing after a week of no practice.
What is 'normal' for others - do you hit on the range before a round, or just get straight out there and onto it? I'm wondering whether I should start playing at places where I can warmup on the range first, or whether I'm just being a wuss.
