Apparently are in short supply. Maybe that's why Tesco have popped in chocolate chips into their hot cross buns!!! Which, I can tell you, are huge and delicious!!!!!!

KFC chooks last week, raisins this week. What's going on?

Hot cross bun with choc chips sounds wrong, more like a muffin!:mmm:

Raisins in hot cross buns? Have you been drinking? Sultanas go in hot cross buns. Tesco's have put in chocolate chips to make everyone even fatter.

Did you toast them? Would the chips not melt in your toaster or did they hold their form?

I like a toasted hot cross bun with either marmalade or strawberry jam on them.

Dan the Man of the telly said raisins go in HCB, it did make me wonder if this was the reason Tescos have put in choc chip instead. As for toasting, these things wouldn't fit in me toaster!!!! And jam on HCB???? Are you mad?

CF - last time we changed our toaster I got a 4 slice, extra wide one. No messing about.

I don't think I have ever seen raisins in HCB, they are meant to be sweet hence sultana's. Dan Walker must have lost the plot.

Live a little, jam, marmalade, sometimes a bit of cheddar. Try it. Obviously half a pack of butter on them first :D

My toddler is a raisin addict, we have stocked up!

He is good at chewing and they are safer than grapes! Grapes are super bad for young children as they choke!

Bit irrelevant but raisins are toxic for dogs, cause kidney damage. I didn't know this until recently........as is chocolate (that I did know) so no HCBs for Rover.:p

Not if you cut them correctly, which I'd hope most people do, sausages are just as bad, and should be cut the same way.

never mind the raisins or sultanas, what about the crosses. I read someone is making them without crosses in case they offend people.

That will only be someone in The Daily Mail's own kitchen looking to outrage themselves. I can confirm that the Aldi ones definitely have crosses and are very nice.

Incidentally a hot cross bun without a cross would just be a hot bun. Good luck with selling that one marketing people 😠

Waitrose still have the cross too. Lovely HCB's from there and not a choc chip insight
