I seem to remember it was the top sixty and ties PLUS anyone within 10 shots of the leader. If so there will be a lot of guys on the course this weekend if things stay as they are. Westwood and Donald will make it. Am I right?

Dont sure how they do the cut, if its so many players or if it goes by so many behind the leader. But at the moment the Cut is currently +3, Which means Lee Westwood misses the Cut and Luke Donald is just making the cut.

At current standings, about 7 or 8 players currently in the cut mark will need to make a hash of it to get the +4's in for the weekend.

Used to be the case but they have done away with that in The Open in recent years. It is now purely Top 70 and ties.

Yes. I personally feel the whole process would be better to mix the two methods of making the cut. Top 70 and ties automatically, but in the event of that being less than 10 shots, include the next bracket. (in this case all those 1 further shot adrift even if that's xx amount of players.)

I think the players who had 2 x 72s getting the harder tee times (from a weather perspective) might feel they could have had a go at it over 2 more rounds. It's only 8 shots, I mean, if it was 10 or 12, then fair enough....

Just a thought.
