Last week I played in our Saturday weekly comp, stable ford format. On the diary of events page on the website, it was listed as a non qualifier (during winter we have only one weekend qualifier each month).

Any way, CSS was 71, (par 70), I had 36 points, and I have received a 0.2 cut from 10.4 to 10.2.

Although I'm absolutely happy to receive the cut, I'm confused as to how a NQ comp can produce a cut?

Incidentally, Today's comp is listed as the qualifier for Jan.Any ideas?

The club can't or at least shouldn't declare a competition a NQ unless the course setup dictates (course length, # of temp greens etc etc)

That said, I know some clubs do and they should be clearer with their communication. Out of interest, did players also get increases from the comp?

Yes, looks like they did.

Our courses are measured and have SSS from all tees, almost never have temps etc etc, and we have one q comp per month from the yellow tees during Nov-March, outside these times the white tees are on and all comes are qualifiers.

just seemed a bit odd
