QPHahahahaha

Basically, I expect better standards on many aspects of life than footballers or the footballing word offers up. The Premiership in particular is a moral vacuum, ruined by money and what it has done to the players and clubs. I realised this on Saturday night when halfway through MOTD, I thought to myself, why am I watching this? Some mediocre highlights interspersed with utter banality from Shearer, Hansen and Lineker. I switched it off and went to be to read a book.

Premiership Football? I just don't care any more. It is a vulgar, over-hyped mess of a product that actively contributes to the parlous state of moral standards in the UK. It is the sporting equivalent of Celebrity Big Brother. TV for idiots. No thanks.

Some interesting thoughts...

Please be assured mine and my footballing mates morals are perfectly intact... Thankyou <wink>

Which is precisely why the Championship is where it's at! :D

Agree with much of snelly's take on this, and also on Aztecs' assessment of the Championship. I am a former Derby County season ticket holder and have to say that there is a better atmosphere in the lower tier where there is less media hoopla and soap opera and it's more about the matches and the visiting crowds. (Not that Derby have much of a choice to play higher!)

I've followed the Rangers thread with great interest and learned a lot from it. I always knew that the Old Firm dominated the Scottish game but probably not the extent to which it skewed the governing of the game.

Players come & go tho Monty , its the hope & expectation , the waiting on results , the banter with your mates , sooo much more than the individuals involved

You make a very good point Bladeplayer. My following of football is quite solitary in that a lot of my mates are not regular match-goers or inclined to talk about it all night in the pub. Unfortunately therefore my interaction with the game has to be via media coverage, which is what makes me increasingly disillusioned. I think for guys who have football at the heart of their social lives, they retain far more "ownership" of the game. In my world, sadly, the media owns too much of my experience to make it palatable.

Nevermind, eh ;)
