Similarities between 2 U.S presidents and their deaths.

Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.

John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.

Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860.

John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.

Both were particularly concerned with civil rights.

Both wives lost a child while living in the White House.

Both Presidents were shot on a Friday.

Both Presidents were shot in the head.

Now it gets really weird.

Lincoln's secretary was named Kennedy.

Kennedy's Secretary was named Lincoln.

Both were assassinated by Southerners.

Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.

Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808.

Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908.

John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839.

Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939.

Both assassins were known by their three names.

Both names are composed of fifteen letters.

Lincoln was shot at the theater named "Ford."

Kennedy was shot in a car called "Lincoln" made by "Ford."

Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.

A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe, Maryland.

A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe.

Lincoln was shot in a Theatre and the assassin ran to a warehouse.

Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and the assassin ran to a Theatre

Strange eh?

I have never seen a watch or clock that had IIII, they're always IV. I have a friend who collects old clocks and my father had a reasonable watch collection.

Wouldn't gravity prevent you from ever getting to the other side? Surely once you passed the centre, it would pull you back the other way?

Quite the opposite, because of gravity no matter the distance travelled it would always take the same amount of time. So even if you went slightly angled and came out a different location, providing free falling would take same time.

I don't get it, maybe I'm being thick, but surely it is gravity that makes you go down into the tunnel? So if one person jumped into the tunnel at each end, gravity would pull them towards the centre, meaning gravity is working in the opposite direction at one end than it is the other, so at some point, presumably once you pass the centre, gravity would pull you back the other way?

Yeh, I get what you mean, it is very confusing and there are several different theories on the matter that contradict. Most importantly though is that as you get closer to the centre of the earth gravity becomes less and less of a force and it pulls you towards the SURFACE as opposed to the centre, also interesting to note is that as you reached the surface on the other side you would slow down and then stop before 'coming out' thus sending you back into freefall in the other direction, this would then continue indefinitely in both directions and you would be trapped.... so my recommendation would be too never try this, also because there would be no air resistance terminal velocity would not apply!
