Well, as the title says, I had a putting nightmare today.

Shot 86 and, within that 86, was a disastrous 43 putts.

Yup.

43.

I took as many putts as I did shots. :o

The hugely disappointing thing was that I actually played quite nicely tee to green and was striking my irons as well as I've done in months.

I need help.

Anyone?

New grip required? Bob Rotella Putting Out of Your Mind required? Practice required? Or just one of those days where you shrug your shoulders grin and bear it. Hope your woes are short-lived!!! :)

Grip's fine. I might think about Bob Rotella when I've calmed down/stopped sobbing. :(

Been doing some practice too. Putted lovely on the practice green too. Then just went to pieces.

Looking back on it, my distance control is letting me down so so so badly.

Was it direction or distance letting you down.
And how soft/slow were the greens?

Direction was ok. Distance control was a nightmare.

The greens were fairly soft and average pace. They weren't rolling that well because of the constant fine rain.

Every now and then we have nightmares on the course whether it's on the tee or green.. just chalk it down to a bad day, forget it and walk on.

More you think about it and more you try to solve it itll only get worse. Just do nothing and then turn out on your next round with optimisn.

I would but this has been coming for a couple of weeks now.

I use a drill where you put balls a 3,6,9,and 12 feet, two balls at each first as normal then with eyes closed trying to remember the feel, I usually find the second put is better. Great drill for distance feel.

Ive been there a few weeks back. Ive changed to having my right hand holding the grip and left hand wrapped over that (the reverse of what i used to do). Still right below left but it has made it much easier just to rock my shoulders. Think i used to pull the putter to the inside with my left hand before.

Putted quite nicely today, one 3 putt "only"!!

One of my playing partners in the monthly stableford, hit two good shots to our opening hole, and had 20 feet for birdie. Five putts later he left the hole with a blob ! :(

Were you collapsing the left wrist (Bob put a great picture of it up a few months back). I have a habit of doing it and it robs you of so much distance control. The other thing is if your putting green is like ours it bears no resemblance in terms of pace to any of the greens on the course

Possibly, but I can't really visualise that and can't find it on a search. :(

The putting green is a little quicker but not too bad.

I know just how you feel my friend,39 putts, the "callie" is
definitley going,I played well today, but my score tells a different story

Natalie's getting a rest tomorrow and my old Ping CU5 is coming out of retirement (once again). I know that it's my fault by I have to change something otherwise I'll be a complete mess tomorrow.

How not to do it with a Callie

:)
