Putting Nightmare

Well, as the title says, I had a putting nightmare today.

Shot 86 and, within that 86, was a disastrous 43 putts.

Yup.

43.

I took as many putts as I did shots. :o

The hugely disappointing thing was that I actually played quite nicely tee to green and was striking my irons as well as I've done in months.

I need help.

Anyone?

You must have been writing about me HRC.
i had a very similar round to that...putting is normally a strong point of mine

Leadbetter did a piece for golf world a while back about putting, practice from inside 3 feet to get a feel of the ball going into the hole. then try from outside 20 feet for distance, aparently 6 - 20 feet we dont make that many so really dont have a need to practice them much, supposed to help before a round. Maybe worth a try, but then I had 5 3 putts today so maybe ignore me! lol

:)

Nearly all three putts are caused by poor distance control on first putts, it can be tough at this time of year too, as the greens we play on change speed week to week and as you say the practice putting green is not always consistent with the course.
However try these putting drills to help you feel your speed better. I hope this helps next time you play.

How not to do it with a Callie

:)

I don't think I was doing that yesterday but I can't really be sure as my head went so badly that I had lost pretty much any coherent thought process or analytical abilities after the second 4 putt.

I certainly wasn't doing it today.

Well, better news after today's scramble.

Natalie got the boot and my old favourite of many years, Ping CU5 got the nod and was selected today.

Much better.

Only hit one bad putt and holed 3 from 10 foot plus. Stupid bloody game.

Not sure my woes are entirely behind me as yesterday's horrendous effort has dealt a huge blow to my confidence that will take some time to repair.

I think what I need is a 20-30 minute practice regime to do once or twice a week that I do week in, week out.

So, next question is, what should that routine be? :)
