Drove through the gates of the club this morning to see an ambulance parked up and the crew giving CPR as a large group watched on.

It turned out one of the guys was talking to his mate one second and then collapsed. Despite one of the group being a police officer and another a trained first aider who both gave mouth to mouth and CPR until the ambulance arrived I found out the guy died (those who were there said it looked liked he was dead almost straight away and no amount of resuscitation would have worked).

Just shows how you should take every day as it comes and live life to the fore. That three putt or topped shot into the water doesn't actually matter that much in the greater scheme of things.

Although I didn't know the guy personally he was a well known member of the club and it was a sorrowful site to see 1-15 people meander slowly back into the car park and locker room and put their kit away without hitting a ball.

RIP Johnny Miller

True.

stop and smell the roses as they say.

It's all over in the blink of an eye.

A sad tale but to be honest I can't think of many ways I would rather go- surrounded by your mates, out in the fresh air, doing something you've been doing since you were a kid- playing and having fun.

I totally agree with your sentiments although I think (without trying to be flippant) he would have preferred it to have happened on the 18th so at least he could have taken the money and got his round in.

Best wishes to his family and friends at the golf club.

Similar thing happened at our club just last yr, a larger than life character, strong as an ox was at a Society Day with some mates/collegues. Standing on the 17th tee box one minute, collapsed and died of a massive heart attack the next.

Wonderful guy and is sorely missed!!!!

In memory of Mickey Taylor.

As always my thought are with the family and playing partners Homer. All the best
