Putter lengths

I think it is quite safe for a putter to be shortened without detriment to its characteristics- I know an 11 year old who plays with a tiny Ping CRAZ-E putter probably around 25 inches and this has been cut down from 35 inches. He putts a dam sight better than I do! That said I always liked 35 inches until using a 34 for the first time, it just feels more balanced through the stroke. I did then try a 33 inch to see if this was better still but it wasn't so standing at 6ft 2" I am a 34 inch man. :D

I have a 34" Ping Karsten Zing and have never realy felt comfortable with it so i have just lengthened it to 38" and now feel as though its about the right length. I can now roll the ball better and feel my putting has improved greatly.
Its just one of the many disadvantages of being 6' 10". :( :(

I've currently at 35" blade model and a 34" mallet model for use depending on conditions where I'm playing. I've always been guilty of gripping near the top of the club and really have to be on my game to feel like I'm putting well with the 35".

I started reading Dave Pelz's putting bible a couple of weeks back and have been thinking alot about a posture for consistent putting and agree with the comment your better to have a putter slightly short rather than long. As much as I'm practicing going down the shaft (?) I think I would be better off getting some length off it - just had it regripped at the new year too....

My previous putter was 33", was trying out a number of putters at the end of last year before telling Santa what I wanted.

ended up with a 35" putter.

I'm 5'6.5* and have a bad back, I found the longer putter helps me keep my back straighter. My arms are very bent.

My putts per round has gone down by a third since the new putter went in the bag.

*the .5" is very important :)

My putter is 35' and I think its too long. When I have my waterproof jacket on, the putter sometimes gets caught up.

Its a cheap putter anyway so may look to buy a new one and go for a bit shorter.
