Punch shot frustration!

Three times last night I needed to play a punch shot under some low branches, approx 20 yards or slightly less in front of me, with about 150ish to the green. This is a shot I used to pull off reasonably well. But everytime time last night I either shanked it or put a nasty low flying slice on it. I was using the 5 iron and tried the stinger low punchy shot that used to work for me. I was either on the fairway or first cut rough type stuff, so nothing claggy at all.

No video I'm afraid, but it cost me a damn fine round. Still silver lining an'all that. 31 putts. Get in!!

How are you getting on with your swing now? Back to the old ways?... found anything useable?

My friends have certainly noticed an improvement off the tee generally, although the fir's have been dropping each game since. I've only played 4 or max 5 times!

Iron play can be a little more erratic, but having said that I have a narrower disperson rate than before. Strange you should ask though, as I've been trying to look through my stats, but the kids are under my feet!!

I don't think I've quite 'got it' yet, but with the practice I'm doing in the net here, and the putting practice, I hope it'll come together. Ball striking generally is a lot better.

we have to play quite a lot of `punch ` shots up here -sounds like ur playin the ball to far back in ur stance - i like to play it a few inches back from centre and hands forward and no wrist cock with weight mostly on ur left side.. maybe others have another way ,but this works for me .
