I think the new range of Puma stuff is stunning. I've seen Edfors and McIroy wearing it and we got a sample collection into our store last week. I've stuck one of the jackets up on ebay to see if it gets any attention as we are thinking of selling this way in the future. I don't think this stuff is available yet in the UK so if you're interested and bid, the top should turn a few heads down the range or at the course. I noticed McIlroy looking over at my stuff today at the range wondering why I was wearing the new stuff he'd just got from Puma, lol!

It labelled a golf fleece by puma but the outermaterial is pretty water tight while its lined with fleece. Take a look at the ebay link and the puma website link if you're interested. The RRP is $90 USA and £60 UK but we are selling just above cost price at £40 to see how it sells.

The item goes up tomorrow at 9am for 1 day and il post the link tomorrow at 9am when it goes active!

Most of us do not look like male models and couldn't pull off wearing a garment such as that without getting the serious urine extracted. The whole golf fashion thing currently going on is awful, pink trousers, white belts, sun visors, porous baseball caps -you know how we cringe when we look at 70's clothes now, well the stuff some of the pros are wearing (only cos they're paid to) currently looks worse than that. Johan Edfors looks like something we should all aspire to not look like, the army cap with his long hair is like a Eurovision song contest outfit and camp as Christmas. Personally I'd be surprised if you sold any of that stuff, it's ugly and ridiculously overpriced. Farah slacks and a nice Argyll jumper, that'll do fine thanks.

Farah slacks ........ I am mortified but have to admit I have a pair. They were the mutts nuts in 1986 but now? Chino's for me. I got a wacky Hilfiger golf jumper last year and a guy at the course asked if it was my SONS?
Cheeky F****** W****** Gob S***e. Am only 37 !!
And to add insult to injury I got a nice pair of Adidas Powerband shoes and the only size 11's they had were the white and red ones ...... Big mistake .... 3 months later and am still being asked 'Do they light up like the kids trainers from Clarks?'

Harsh words birdieman - is it not a positive that not everyone dresses and acts the same in the professional game? Surely we don't want a bunch of robots playing on tour. The modern clothing at least attracts some youngsters to the sport.

Shooter I think it IS the problem. What you have is a few 'robots' dressed like TWATS. There are very few characters out there. Poulter? what a waste of air time, Darren Clarke, Edfors and the like are average at best.

Do you ever see football players wearing team colours off the park the way millions of fans do? Not a chance. They wear them on the park because they get paid [****] loads of cash to do so. Golf is very similar. If these guys were not feathering their nests do you think they would part with half a weeks wage for a Hugo Boss t-shirt ?? NAH, neither do I.

Fair point Shooter, trouble is all the good golfers - Singh, Woods, Els, Goosen, Mickelson dress fine, it's the also rans that are looking for the cash they cant win actually playing golf by playing fashion victims and wearing silly clothes. Poulter and Clarke spring to mind. Dont want to watch a catwalk and hairstyle of the month, just want to watch golf.

Of course, a brand new GM will be falling through the letterbox any day now, who'll be on the cover? Surely not Luke Donald...again or Sergio...again. I doubt whether they'll print this thread either madandra....a forum of slightly troubled golfers who wish they could have been golf superstars and are now realising that their youthful dreams of being even scratch golfers will alas never be realised.
This forum is like free therapy for us, we can let off some sarky ascerbic comment safe in the knowledge that no-one can identify us and give us the slap we probably deserve!

Hmmm...The Seniors Tour - lucrative and yet still attainable??

Personally speaking I like the bright clothes. No one ever said you have to look dull to play golf. All the tasteless seventies gear looks bizarre now, and probably even then, but there is nothing more boring than tan chinos and a navy blue polo shirt. Come on, get some imagination, stop dressing in uniforms like a bunch of clones. Get some colour in your life..

Ok Murph, nothing wrong with bright clothes....in the Caribbean!
Pasty chubby white folks playing in the UK drizzle dont really suit orange, turquoise, lime, lilac etc
Whatevers wrong with tan and navy, a great combo in my book. I'd rather not be too conspicuous on the course but I appreciate we are all different.

I think the likes of Poulter have earned plenty of cash on the course as well as off it - Over €1.5m last year on the European tour alone isn't a bad wage!!!

Calling Edfors average at best is slightly over the top - an up and coming talent with wins under his belt. The likes of Ogilvy suggest there is room for individuality and good golf - dressing in something other than the norm shouldn't offend so much!

Shooter's right... I think calling Poulter an also-ran is a bit off the mark. He made all four cuts in the 2007 Majors (how many done that?) and produced a tidy performance at the weekend to finish tied ninth in the FedEx Cup. If he's a waste of air-time then I wonder what you'd call 80% of the other players on the tour?

Probably a waste of air time too. Poulter is the poor man's Payne Stewart, nice lad but not in Payne Stewarts league as a player so cant carry off the unusual look with any real authority.

So Poulter should leave the fancy dress in the wardrobe until he wins three majors?

Poulter may not be one of the best, but that doesn't have any bearing on what he should/shouldn't wear on the course.

George,
Agree with your second point but whether or not marketing men should try and get us club golfers to try to emulate him and fork out tons of cash for very much 'here today gone tomorrow' clothes styles that you can't wear away from the course is questionable.

Maybe, but in terms of marketing, I think Poulter's dress does a lot more for the game in reducing the boring old-man image that puts so many youngsters off, rather than merely making a quick-buck for clothing manufacturers. Just because he wears what he does doesn't make me rush out there and buy the latest union jack trousers but I still applaud him for doing it.

Sorry to sound like im going on birdieman but i had a conversation with a club pro last week about the popularity of J Lindeberg clothing and he's had a lot of great feedback about the stuff because guys are wearing it on the course and then when they are away from playing - I wouldn't wear it but the youth of today seem to have embraced golf fashion which I think is good to see.

Haven't seen the price of his stuff yet but i seem to remember Poulter saying he would make his clothing range affordable.

I dont recall as a junior being put off by boring old men or even noticing what they wore, just enjoyed playing the game with pals and mucking about. Only seniors that drew your attention were the really good players who could hit it miles.
Tiger epitomises the real pro - simple clean clothing lines - black shoes, black trousers and a polo shirt -looks the business and backs it up with his golf. Doesn't need a gimmick.
I was joking about the Farah slacks incidentally!
