protection?

Use the rain protector that comes with your bag. I just make sure I put them back into the bag as dry as poss. If its been a really bad day, when i get home I re-dry all the clubs and give them a good clean.

Dry grips, hands and gloves is the main priority. I would take at least 2 spare gloves and 2 towels in a plastic bag within the golf bag.
Umbrella holder on trolley helps keep rain off grips as it's covering the top of the bag all the time.
Obviously waterproof top and bottoms but if its warm amd raining I don't mind getting upper half a bit damp, rather that that too happed up.

Tend not to bother with a brolly unless it is lashing and then mainly to keep a spare towel and glove inside. Make sure you have lots of towels and gloves and a good set of waterproofs. I tend to keep my spare gloves in a sandwich bag (take them out when I get home) to keep them dry as most bags absorb some water.

I don't worry too much about the rainhood for the same reason but make sure I wipe the grips before I play usually after I've taken my practice swing so they are as dry as possible for the shot

The rain hood that comes with the bag is usually useless. If you trolley it, get a proper rain cover. If you carry, get a sun mountain h2o.

Other than that, get a water proof hat, a good set of goretex, and a rain glove. Sorted.
