What do people use to protect their irons? I know you can buy head covers but my clubs arent forged so I dont think I need them.

Ive only just got my new irons about two weeks ago but there are already scratches and scuffs around the hosel. This wont effect the the performance of them but I'd of liked them to stay new looking a bit longer.

Are head covers the only option?

Get some covers for them.

Also try avoid hitting the turf/ sand/ tee/ ball at 80+ mph with them as that will alos scratch them. :D :p

I have no time for headcover on irons. In fact, I tend to remove half my headcovers anyway and go one with, one without across the top of my bag.

Then again, I buy used irons and sell used irons...if I had a shiny new set I'd probably get some covers.

Im not a fan of headcovers either but scuffs and scratches on brand new clubs after a fortnight is a bit crap.

Like I said its only on the back of the hosel so wont effect performance, I just would of liked them shiny for a bit longer.

Even cast clubs will get "chatter damage" in the same way as forged. My advice is to get some of the soft neoprene covers.
Obviously you ain't played with Ping irons. The S clubs might (I've never owned these) but none of the irons I have had have suffered from this.

If you want to protect your irons, the only way is with some decent head covers.
Stuff what other people think (or say). They're your clubs, you've spent your money on them. Protect them anyway you want.
I wouldn't think any less of an opponent because he's using them. Just proves to me he looks after his gear.
Any comments about not being a real golfer (or similar) are crap.
;)

My irons are worth LESS than a set of headcovers. I reckon the rust holds them together so I'm scared to clean them. Occasionally I scrape some of the concrete out of the grooves with a wooden tee :)

I think I'll get some headcovers. These are the first irons Ive bought so I want to keep the in good condition.
Can anyone recommend any good ones that protect the hosel also?
