Pros and the provisional.

Just watching Duval at the Texas Open having to go back to the tee. Why are pros so reluctant to hit a provisional ball and in the interest of faster play maybe some official and rule should call for a player to hit a provisional.

His options were not good after hitting his ball in the bushes and trees.

I guess they just assume a spectator will find it for them. I bet Pros on the PGA and European Tour dont loose TWO balls per year.

Hmmmmm.....i'd say it was more than that.

Its all well & good when there are large galleries, like they are at the majors, but at some of the lesser events the galleries are very small hence there isnt a lot of people to hit with their ball and/or find it for them when it does get lost!

I agree especially on the Nationwide and Europro tours where it can be one man and the proverbial dog following some groups. I think its more an American tour thing not to play provisionals. I've seen a couple of pros hitting them in Ireland already.

They have been known to lose balls when fairways are lined with thousands of spectators so Im sure they lose a few each year should there be lack of crowds from time to time.

All his options were not good so he went back to the tee and played another ball. 3 off the tee.
