Snuck out for nine holes this evening. Walking up the fairway on the third, as I have done many times with my Gokart over the last two years, when I momentarily let go of the handle and it inexplicably caught a stone or some such and flipped up. As I tried to lift it back up, something felt not quite right, as I looked closer I saw that the top half of the handle had completely sheared off on both sides just above the hinge :(

The cart could still drive, I just couldn't steer it as the handle was no longer fixed to the chassis. I didn't want to go in so I carried on playing, but had to walk slowly trying to guide the cart from the lower half. Felt a bit of a plonker as I had to carry the handle of the cart, but battled on.

This must have been to my benefit, as after bogeying the first 3 holes, I proceeded to par the nest 5, and birdie the ninth, completing the front 9 for 38, net 27  That's my best ever result around the front nine, beating my previous best of 43 shot only two weeks ago........

I have no idea where that came from, one of those rounds - took 1 hour and 5 mins as the course was totally empty. Everything just seemed to flow, swing was effortless, hit every fairway with my drives, 6 greens in regulation, including the 9th par three which I have never reached in 1 in three years of playing it, and totalled 15 putts .......

I'm still in a daze about thinking about it now, let's hope its the start of a good season..

Great scoring chap. Seems everyone's at it except me
Maybe my time will come at Woodhall. Or not.

Hope you get your kart sorted. From previous owners experiences I'm sure they'll help you to sort something out. Let us know how it goes.

Spoke to GoKart at 9:00, they were waiting on my call - just to prove that they do take note of postings on here. They are picking it up tomorrow to take back for repair. They have offered to do the repair FOC, I pay the courier fees. I can't ask more than that, especially since it was an impact break. This wasn't intended as a thread about a GoKart failing per se, it was supposed to be a lead in to my best 9 holes ever. Having said that, I know some people on here get fed up with GoKart threads, but as a GK user, I have to say that their service has always been second to none.

Yup, they should be good, they must have had loads of practice going by the gokart breakage threads on here.

;) :p

I am not sure how sustainable their business is if they are repairing trolleys free of charge for accidental damage.
They've done okay so far!!!

I wonder, back to the point of the OP, if because your thoughts were focused more on getting a broken trolley round rather than your golf, that assisted the score?

In the medal last week, I was blissfully ignorant of my score until the turn, when one of my playing partners announced, "40 points, mate. 4 under. Keep it going".
I then proceeded to go 9, 6, 6 and completely **** up my card, finishing with a 93!
If only I hadn't heard, it could have been so much better!
