I am in a quandary. I currently play MP-32s with S300s, but recently tried an MP-67 iron fitted with a Rifle 6.5 shaft. I honestly thought there was no way on Earth I could even get the ball airborne, however, I seemed to be hitting them alright, and moreover a bit better better than my current set. I tried an S300-shafted MP-67 alongside and it felt heavy and my ball flight was higher with it.
The pro, who didn't watch me using the irons, said maybe I could go for 6.0s as those seem less extreme than the 6.5s. Are the 6.0s better all-round shafts? I was only able to try a 6-iron and don't have access to anywhere local that I could demo a full set, and my concern is that if I did plump for the 6.5 shafts, would this negatively impact ball flight in the lower irons?
