For those of you who may be unaware, I had a lesson early last week which concentrated on a neutral grip , rather than my old "Underneath" grip.and also posture and weight distribution.

Played on Friday and it was bad, couldnt hit a thing.

Following last weeks debacle I have been at the Range yesterday and today, and have another lesson tomorrow.

Feeling happy with the grip, although it is a conscious effort to make it right, the important thing is that I am hitting the ball better than I ever have.
Nice crisp clean strikes which sound nice.

I EVEN HIT A DRAW !!!

Still have the odd one leaking right, a push rather than a fade, but the lesson tomorrow is all about alignment, and swing plane, so hopefully that will help in that department.

I felt that I had reached a plateau and was not improving, the odd good round followed by weeks of dross, with a wicked slice.so I took the decision to have my game totally revamped.

Im hoping that i have some sort of game to take to Hanbury Manor in a fortnight otherwise i'll look like a bigger knob than Smiffy.

So Lesson tomorrow, should be able to go to the range again Thursday, and play with Imurg & CVG on Friday

Anyone else had a rebuild?
What were the results?

Feel your pain mate.

Currently rebuilding my swing. It's in there, but refuses to come out.

When it works, it's lovely (slight draw, penetrating flight) but since it "clicked" at the range a few weeks ago, I've not managed to get it back consistently and it's leading to terrible ball striking on the course and just awkward swinging. It's all about patience though.

I'm giving myself till the end of April to see some solid progress which gives me six weeks to get to grips and ingrain the swing. Not expecting overnight miracles...Just got to keep working at the right stuff.

Persevere mate. It's key.

Was supposed to, didn't get around to it due to the bad weather. Last lesson was November so well over due.

Well done though, i'm sure you will see the Handicap fly down.

At your lesson tomorrow are you going to ask the pro to show you how to use your chipper?

Do you need a neutral grip with a chipper. I thought a strong grip would be best for throwing it in the bin. :D

I had a rebuild over the winter and life has never been so good. Your next lesson plan sounds spot on and I am sure will really bring the grip changes to the fore. There will be some pain and after that maybe some more pain but if you feel the changes and dont slip back to the old swing you, I am sure will come out on top. Bet you wished you had started this thing a little sooner though.

Good luck with it all.

I was just starting to come out the other end last year after changing my grip posture and swing plane. Then I injured my lower back and could not swing a club in 5 months. Playing again now but I have lost a little flexibility and finding it hard to get the new moves back as not properly ingrained. Going to have to book another lesson ASAP keep putting it off for some reason.

Just keep that beautiful penitrating draw flight in your head every time you hit a shot and you will get there.

I am in the same boat went for a lesson arround 3 weeks ago and the pro changed my grip stance/setup and weight distribution so was almost a complete rebuild, only just starting to see improvements now.

Keep at it, it will be worth all the pain!

Pretty much sums it up for me too. A lot of work over the winter on the hips leading and turning on a level axis and not sliding has led to much better compression of the ball and some excellent striking down the range. On course there have been rounds when it really has threatened to click into place without ever really doing so. Its bubbling away and now I can get out and play more and more with the longer nights, one short game lesson, plenty of golf and I'm cautiously optimistic.

I've played with Fragger and there is definitely a good golfer in there and so I hope last week was the pivotal point and the bottom of barrel and that the changes will click in and work for him. I can't help feeling Hanbury might come around too soon for him but that aside I hope the rest of the summer sees him get down to 20 and below as he has the capability

Smiffy You are my inspiration

I've had a six month battle with swinging a bit too flat and getting my head stuck behind the ball through impact. After perseverance my swing plane is perfect but my head won't behave. I have to get dad to hold a club against the back of my head whilst I swing.

Nice one Fragger. Good luck with the lesson. Imurg better watch out you'll be gunning for him without any shots soon :D

Only in his dreams Tiger....!! :D :D

Good Luck Fragger Me Ole Mucker!! Hope he sorts you out.
