Professional Golf 2024 & 2025

Back door , front door , side door - all irrelevant imo

A tournament is based on 4 rounds and where you finished is cumulative of those 4 rounds , coming 3rd based on a good 4th round is no different to coming 3rd based on a good 1st round

Rory doesn’t seem to win too many wire to wire events and it does take him until the weekend at times to get going , but that’s probably the way he works , it shouldn’t be looked as a negative
The point he was making isn’t detracting from Rory top 10s or Top 5 finishes. It’s an impressive record he has and worthy of merit but finishing high up on the last day shows a slightly more consistent start would equate to more W’s and that’s what Rory will remember himself.

It can be looked at as a positive that he consistently has finished so high, it can equally be looked at negatively that he could have and should have won more he’d say that himself.

Doesn’t mean either opinion is right or wrong. It’s just that they’re opinions and we all differ in how we look at it that’s just how it is!

Has Rai spent all week celebrating hard? 🤣 Looked so controlled just a few days ago…

Anyway, the TV execs will be praying for a Rory vs Tommy shootout on Sunday, and you have to admit it would be fun.

It is different. The order is really important.

Let's say over the course of 4 days you have 1 brilliant round, 2 good rounds, and 1 poor round.

If the brilliant round is on day 1, you are top of the leaderboard. You maintain it with 2 good rounds on Friday and Saturday and start the final round in contention to win, or even leading. You then blow it with a poor round and everyone calls you a choker. But at least you were in contention.

If the poor round is on day 1, you are miles off the pace. The good rounds on Friday and Saturday don't get you close enough to the leaders. On Sunday you are too far back and you are never in contention. Your brilliant final round gets you into the top 10, but it's too late to challenge the leaders.

Rory tends to win when his brilliant round is earlier e.g. Friday, and it sets him up nicely for the weekend, or when he doesn't have a poor round.

Great insider knowledge there! :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

I think I heard this correctly. One of the commentators today said about Rory “ He’s a better man than he is a player”. What a great compliment. I think we would all like to be thought of that way, even though we all set the playing skill bar quite low.

For most people, including me, that’s not saying much 😂

Think I’m the only one watching the PGA in the country 😂 but the winds humming in Bermuda and despite being t3 Adam Schenk battling some demons he’s had 4 different putting strokes on the go today

I managed 10 minutes of it, before switching to Gillingham v Crawley. 25 minutes in, and it looks like it's movie time, James Bond, perhaps.

Paul McGinley just said if McIlroy could pick today whether he wins the tournament or wins the order of merit, he'd choose the order of merit.

But surely if he wins the tournament, he automatically wins the order of merit anyway?
Another reason he needs to be put out to grass...has he ever said anything insightful..?

He’s a hard listen. So many greats they could have on speaking and were landed with him
